Some Common Terms And Abbreviations In Satellite Installation And Their Meaning.

There are many forms of abbreviations and terms in satellite television installation, but I'm going to list the common ones for you.
I will start with;
1) TP or tp: This is the short form or abbreviation for "Transponder". The transponder consist of the frequency, polarization and the symbol rate. Most people call the transponder as frequency which is very wrong and misleading.

2) Freq: Short form of Frequency.

3) SR or sr: Short form of Symbol Rate.

4) Pol or pol: Short short for Polarization. This is either H, V,  L or R.

5) SAT: Short for Satellite.

6) SID: Abbreviation for Service ID.

7) APID: Abbreviation for Audio Packet Identifier.

8) VPID: Meaning, Video Packet Identifier.

9) FEC: Meaning, Forward Error Correction.

10) FTA: Meaning, Free To Air.

11)DVB: Meaning, Digital Video Broadcaster.

12) EPG: Meaning Electronic Programmes Guide.

13) INFO: Meaning Information.

14) DiSEqC:
Meaning, Digital Satellite Equipmen Control. You can see the image and the use of DiSEqC from my previous post on May 3 2018.

15) LNB or LNBf:
Meaning, Low Noise Block Converter feedhorn.

16) HD: Meaning, High Definition.

17) Scramble: Meaning, a scramble channel has a Dollar $ sign on it and it is normally locked.

18) MPEG:
Meaning, Moving Picture Expects Group.

SHILOH TV HAS BEGAN TRANSMISSION ON ABS3 3°W.

       
            

Shiloh TV has started transmission on Abs3 @ 3°W TSTV position with Freq(11060), Pol (V), SR (08333).

I did inform you earlier about 40 pay TV channels that have unscrambled at Astra 2F @ 28.2°E multitv position. Unfortunately these channels have been locked again since they are pay TV channels but you can get Rave TV Nigeria at this same position with freq (11635), pol (H), sr(30000).

Free 24/7 Action Movies Channels.

            

This article goes for movie lovers especially for those who love watching action movies. I'm going to list some of the free TV channels, their transponders, dish size and the satellite they operate with.
I will start with;

1) Movie Action TV: Transmits from Nigcomsat @ 42°E Kuband. The transponder is, Freq 12518, Pol H, SR 29500.
One issue I have with this satellite is that, it sometimes goes off and comes back so if you try and you don't get the signal you can try another day.  Dish requirement is 90cm.

2) Champ -TV Extra: Transmits from Yamal @ 54.9°E Kuband. The transponder is, Freq 11008, Pol(V), SR 05000. You can read my previous post "How To Install 4 Satellites With A Single Dish " to install this satellite with the above one with same 90cm dish to save money and space.

Transmit from Nilesat / Eutelsat @ 7°W Kuband. The transponder is, Freq 11560, Pol(V), SR 27500. Dish requirement is 90cm.

     *MBC Action: Tp 11088/H/30000. They all transmit from Abs3 @ 3°W kuband with dish requirement of 90cm

5)NEW WORLD CINEMA: Tp 12560/H/30000.
Transmits from Eutelsat 16A @ 16°E Kuband. Dish requirement is 60cm or 90cm.

Quest TV Has Started Transmission On Astra 2F @ 28.2°E.

            

Guest TV from Nigeria has started transmission on Astra 2F @ 28.2°E Multitv position with;

Additional channels that come with this tp (transponder)  are;

How To Watch DSTV Channels On Your Mobile Phone.

            

To watch DSTV channels on your mobile or Android phone, first of all you have to own DSTV decoder with one of their premium, Compact plus or Compact packages on it. Make sure your package is active and working on your decoder (I mean you have to recharge the decoder with one of the above packages).

Having done all these, download the (DSTV NOW APP) from the Google Play Store. After downloading, register with your email address and your account or smart card number of the decoder. Then enter your password to login.
When you login, you will see only the channels for the package you choose for your decoder .
In this case, with the DSTV NOW APP you can watch all the channels for your package on your Android phone any where you go all you need is data.

Note that when the subscription on your decoder goes off, the one on your mobile will also go off unless you recharge your decoder.

ACBN International On Astra 2F.

     
             

ACBN International has began transmission on Astra 2F 28.2°E with;
Freq (12565), Pol (H), SR (30000).
This channel comes with about 40 pay TV channels that have unscrambled at Multitv Ghana position.

In the same way, Rave TV has been permanently scrambled at this same Astra 2F, Multitv Ghana position.

Symbol Rate Of Some TV Channels Has Been Changed.

            

Symbol rate of these TV channels has been changed;
1) REAL BLACK TV
2) My Music TV
3) My Movies TV
4) THE TEMPLE TV
5) REAL BLACK 2, these channels can be tracked at Abs3 @ 3.0°W kuband TSTV Africa position.

 Previously the transponder was;

How To Boot Your Computer Without Hitting F1.

         
            

If you have always been hitting F1 key when booting your computer, then this is the solution.
This normally happens when time and date are not set correctly. Try and set the date and time correctly, either you set from the setup menu or boot before you set.

After you have finished setting time and date, save your settings and switch the computer off by removing the power cable from the electricity socket.

Switch on the machine again and see if the problem still persist, then switch off the computer again and open the case of the computer you will see a small battery like the one in a wrist watch as shown in the image below.

Remove the battery and replace with new one. Switch on the device and set date and time again.
Save your settings and reboot and you are good to go without hitting F1 or any key again.

The purpose of this battery is to save some some settings in the computer for example date and time. So if the battery is not working, it can not save the date and the time.

An Islamic television channel known as Sunna TV has began transmission on Nigcomsat / Turksat @42°E Kuband with;

Televista TV, a 24 hour Bollywood (Indian)

In addition, BF1 TV from Burkina Faso has also began transmission on Eutelsat 16A @16° with;

These channels are pay channels and they will soon be encrypted (locked).

Tricks And Tips In Tracking A Satellite With Ease.

              

           

Most people find it difficult to track or install a satellite because, they lack the tips and tricks in it. Carefully read this article and you will know how to track any satellite with ease. 

One big mistake most installers does is installing a satellite with the dish dropping down to the top of the roof. You can see this from the image above.

Do you know that if the degree of a particular satellite is higher, the lower your dish will drop down? The same applies to lower degree satellite which will also be raised up. Example; 68.5° satellite will come down whilst 16° will be raised.

So in this case if you try to install 68.5° with a dish dropping on the top of the roof, you will not get the signal. You can see from the above image that, I used to drop the dish on top of the roof. This was possible because, the satellite has a lower degree (°) which is 16°E. 

Another big issue is the positioning or skewing of the lnb. If the lnb did not positioned or faced in the right direction, you will start from early in the morning to evening by receiving nothing.

So standing in front of the dish, you should turn the connector of the lnb to 3 o'clock direction and after hitting the signal, adjust it to increase the signal.

Another one is the device you are using for tracking the satellite. If you are tracking or installing with a decoder,  don't use HD (High Definition) decoders since they do not pick the signal quickly.  You can use mpeg 4 decoder or satellite finder (meter) and then scan with your HD decoder later.
An example of mpeg4 decoder is strong (srt 4669) x or xii.

Make sure you have a genuine Lnb .

Make sure you input the correct tp (transponder) for the satellite you are tracking. Make sure the particular frequency or tp is highlighted.

Alminhaj, an Islamic television channel has began transmission on Nigcomsat 42.0°E satellite position. The transponder is;

About 39 pay TV channels that have been unscrambled (opened) are still free on Astra 2F 28.2°E multitv Ghana position with frequency (12565), pol (H), sr (30000).

You can scan your receiver (decoder) with blind scan to get all these channels.

How To Receive FM Radio Channels From A Distance.

In most places especially rural or village areas, FM radio signals are difficult to receive. In this case, I'm going to show you how to receive FM radio channels or stations from a distance of about 85 to 90 miles from where you are.

Things you will need; 

1) A long pole of about 20 FT long, use a wood or a bamboo stick. Don't use a metal pole.

2)An aluminum bar of about 3 FT long, example is the one on top of the bamboo pole as shown from the image above.

3) A 2.5mm electric cable, you will measure it from your room to the top of the pole. 

4) FM radio tuner or any FM radio receiver. 

To start the process peel a small portion of the electric cable and connect or join it to the aluminum bar. Then tie the aluminum bar to the other end of the wooden or bamboo pole.

Place the pole in a hole and send the electric cable to your room. Connect the cable to the antenna of your radio or tuna.
Switch on the device and start tunning  and you will see how numerous channels or stations you will receive. 

Note that some FM radio receivers doesn't have good reception, so try and use the one with good reception.

How To Test A Remote Control With Mobile Phone.

Sometimes we bought a remote control from the market, but the time we reach home and use it for our device ,we realize that the remote is not working.
In order to prevent all these calamities, I am going to show you how to test the remote before you bring it home.

After you have purchased the remote, insert a battery into it and then switch the camera of your mobile phone.

Face the bulb or the eye of the remote to the sensor of your phone's camera and press any key on the remote.
By looking at the screen of your mobile phone, you will see that the bulb of the remote will light up when pressing the remote keys.

If the bulb lights up, it means that the remote is working if it didn't, it means the remote is not working and this will help you not to purchase a damaged remote.

Make sure you do it in a little dark place, this will help you to see the light from the remote control properly.
This practice works with any camera phone.

How To Increase A Satellite Television Signal.

There are some processes that lead to weakness in satellite signal quality.
These processes include;

1) Using too old satellite cable leads to signal loss.

2) Extended cable, the longer the cable the weaker your signal will be so try and shorten your cable for better signal.

3) Joining of satellite cable also leads to signal weakness so remove any joined cables and replace with straight ones.

4) Obstacles like trees and buildings in front or behind a satellite dish leads to signal loss so try to install a satellite at a plain area.

4) Bended satellite dish is also one problem so always make sure that your dish has not even bend slightly.

5) Cables with thin copper reduces signal so I will urge you to use a quality cable with huge copper for good signal strength .
